Aevamo’s reading

Issued under the 1930 Bouvet-øya Act § 2, this regulation establishes Bouvetøya as a nature reserve and is the instrument that makes landing on the island conditional on a special permit from the responsible ministry; it creates the permit obligation the row answers, whereas the NPI page only describes that obligation.

The regulation establishes Bouvetøya as a nature reserve and makes landing with aircraft on the island conditional on a special permit from the responsible ministry; because Bouvetøya has no airstrip and the Norwegian Polar Institute states that coming ashore by boat is impracticable, the landing permit is the authorisation a traveller must obtain in advance to enter the island.
