- The agreement's preamble states that 'the exemption from the visa requirement shall apply from the date of entry into force of an agreement on visa exemption to be concluded with the Union', and Article 8(1) provides that the agreement 'shall enter into force on the first day of the second month following the date of the later of the two notifications'; the Official Journal notice records that the agreement entered into force on 1 May 2016.
