- Under Interior Minister Decision 32/2022, a national who holds a valid entry visa for Saudi Arabia (other than Hajj/Umrah visas), the UAE, the United Kingdom, a US entry visa or residence card, or an EU entry visa may instead obtain an immediate visa at the ports on arrival

The Aliens (Migration and Residence) Law 1965 creates the obligation: Article 5(1) requires every alien to hold a valid entry visa to land in Bahrain, and Articles 3 and 27 give the Ruler and the immigration authorities the power to permit and exempt entry. The ministerial decisions and the eVisa eligibility lists operate under the authority this statute creates.
The NPRA eVisa portal lists these nationalities as eligible for the online visa, and the online application is submitted before travel; because Aliens Law article 5(1) requires every alien to hold a valid entry visa to land in Bahrain, a national of one of these countries must arrange that visa in advance, so advance authorisation is required. The visa itself sets the stay (SET_BY_VISA).
